FAQs – Treating Dogs (Session Blocks & Care)

What type of therapy do you offer for dogs?

I offer specialist Emmett-based complementary therapy for dogs.
This is a gentle, light-touch approach that supports comfort, mobility, and relaxation by working with the nervous system.

It is not massage and involves no force or manipulation.

What happens during the first session?

The initial session includes careful observation of your dog’s posture, movement, and behaviour.

Treatment only proceeds if your dog is comfortable and willing. Sessions are calm, respectful, and always guided by your dog’s consent.

Does the treatment hurt?

No.
This work is extremely gentle and should not cause discomfort. There is no deep pressure or force used.

Many dogs show signs of relaxation such as softening, lying down, sighing, or settling during or after sessions.

How many sessions will my dog need?

Some dogs show changes after a single session.
Others benefit from a short series of sessions, particularly older dogs or those with ongoing needs.

A common approach is:

  • An initial assessment session

  • Follow-up sessions based on how your dog responds

There is no fixed requirement.

Do you offer session packages for dogs?

Yes.
Optional session packages are available for owners who would like continuity of care.

Packages are usually discussed after the first session and there is no obligation to commit.

How are sessions usually spaced?

Sessions are often:

  • Closer together initially

  • Then spaced further apart as your dog becomes more settled

Spacing is guided by your dog’s response and comfort.

Does my dog have to accept treatment?

No.
Consent is central to how I work. Dogs are never restrained or forced, and each session is led by what your dog is happy with on the day.

Can you see more than one dog at the same location?

Yes.
For households with more than one dog, adjusted arrangements may be available. Please enquire for details.
